Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday abducted the Chairman of Kanke Local Government Council of Plateau state, Henry Gotip.
The gunmen stormed the residence of the LG Chairman at Kwang in Jos South local government council of the state around 1 am and started shooting. They subsequently abducted Gotip who is also the Secretary of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Plateau State.
The Council boss was whisked away to an unknown destination by the gunmen.
A search-and-rescue team of vigilantes are currently combing the area.

When contacted, the Spokesperson for the Plateau state Police Command, Alabo Alfred, said he was going to get back to this newspaper when he gets the details of the attack.
Plateau shares a border with Kaduna state, where bandits – a loose term for gangs of outlaws – carry out robberies, kidnappings and mindless killings.
