The controller of Customs of the Seme border post, Comptroller Dera Nnadi(mni), is still going strong on the crack down on smuggling and other cross border nefarious activities.

On Friday, 8th September, 2023, he showcased several items that had been smuggled and seized. At the open air displays of seized goods, several items like bales of second hand clothing, ladies shoes, substandard cigarettes, consignments of illegal drugs like codeine and tramadol and petrol in kegs that had been seized enroute the waterways to Cotonou in Benin Republic. The petrol amounted to almost 14,000 litres.

He reported of an agent in a sister agency who was caught trying to smuggle a consignment of codeine but because of the synergy they have with other security agencies, the agent has been handed over to the parent agency for prosecution.

The highpoint of the event was comptroller Nnadi, reeling out accolades on behalf of the officers and men of his command, whom he described as pivotal to the successes recorded by the command. He handed over letters of commendation from the Comptroller General Of Customs, CG Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and himself to thank them and encourage their efforts.

Comptroller Dera Nnadi mni said that it was the constant boost of morale given to the officers and men that has brought out their finest points for maximum productivity at the command.
