DELTA — The Delta State Police Command has recorded fresh operational successes across Agbor, Abbi and Oghara, with the rescue of a kidnapped victim, arrest of ten suspects and recovery of a locally made firearm and illicit drugs. On September 4, 2026, at about 6:00pm, operatives of Agbor Division, backed by forest guards and local security personnel, responded to intelligence on the abduction of a 60-year-old man in Alisime Village. They engaged the kidnappers, rescued the victim unharmed, and recovered a mobile phone and ATM card. The suspects escaped into the bush with suspected gunshot injuries, and a manhunt is ongoing.
Hours later, at about 9:30pm, the Command Anti-Cult Unit, CACU, Ozoro, acting on credible intelligence, raided a brothel in Abbi where a suspect linked to an August arson attack in Owhelogbo Community was said to be hiding. Ten suspects, seven females and three males, were arrested during the operation. Tramadol, Swinol, Canadian Loud and substances suspected to be Indian hemp were also recovered. Police said profiling is ongoing and those found culpable will face prosecution.
Also on September 4, at about 7:30pm, operatives of Oghara Division and members of a civilian anti-cult group responded to a report of a scuffle involving about eight persons along Ibori Road, Oghara. On sighting the patrol team, the group fled and one of them, known as “Highest,” dropped a locally made cut-to-size gun which was recovered. Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, commended the teams for the coordinated operations and directed intensified efforts to arrest fleeing suspects. He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to support crime prevention and detection across the state.
