The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom, led his leadership team on a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency on Thursday, June 4, 2026. The visit is part of FCID’s efforts to strengthen collaboration with DSVA in tackling domestic and sexual violence across Lagos. AIG Akpanudom reaffirmed the Annex’s commitment to professionalism, objectivity, and strict adherence to investigative procedures in handling gender-based violence cases, and welcomed DSVA’s proposal for a Gender-Based Violence Desk at FCID Annex.
DSVA Executive Secretary Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi welcomed the delegation and highlighted the strategic partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the Agency. She noted that the collaboration has improved survivor referral pathways, increased prosecution of perpetrators, and reduced secondary victimization through coordinated case management. She urged the establishment of a GBV Desk within FCID Annex, capacity-building for detectives, and support to furnish the office, stressing that survivors need continuous care and swift access to justice.
Both parties pledged to deepen cooperation and adopt victim-centred approaches. AIG Akpanudom commended DSVA for managing the Sexual Offenders Register, calling it key for monitoring offenders and supporting investigations. He urged DSVA to liaise directly with FCID Annex leadership for prompt intervention and said integrating the register’s conviction records with the Central Criminal Registry will improve documentation, intelligence gathering, and tracking of serial offenders.
