The 2024 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards ceremony was a night to remember, as Femi Adebayo emerged the biggest winner of the evening, sweeping up multiple awards at the glamorous event held at the Sugar Factory Film Studios, Ilorin.
Nollywood filmmaker and actor, Femi Adebayo, went home as the highest winner of the night.
The brain behind the much-acclaimed film, “Jagun Jagun”, clinched six of the 24 award categories of the BON Awards, including the Best Actor and Best Costume categories.
Other big winners of the night included the film “Momiwa” for Best Screenplay and Best Editing while “Unknown Soja” Wunmi Dada and Darasimi Nadi bagged the Best Actress and Best Child Actress categories respectively.
Mercy Aigbe carted away the award for Best supporting actress in Ada Omo Daddy, and Keppy Ekpenyong for Best Supporting Actor for his role in ‘The Weekend’ while the duo of Halima Ganiyu and David Akande won the award for Best Kiss in a movie, ‘Eti Keta’.
The Best of Nollywood Awards, founded by Seun Oloketuyi, remains a traveling pan-Nigeria Awards dedicated to celebrating film practitioners and industry stakeholders.
Earlier in her welcome address, Feranmi Olaoye, the Executive Director of BON Awards, said the winners were selected after months of meticulous work by a capable jury.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of the lifetime achievement award by Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrasak of Kwara.
This was done alongside BON founder , and the Director General, National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, Mr Abisoye Fagade.to thespian Kanayo O. Kanayo.
He was recognised for his contributions to the movie industry.
Kanayo expressed his joy at being recognised in the creative industry.
He stated that it was an honor to be recognised and appreciated, while urging practitioners to always put in their best in whatever they do.
On his part, the governor stated that Kwara is open for business, and he hoped that the Sugar Factory Film Studios, the facility built purposely for filmmakers, would be the location for two epic films in the coming year.
Present at the event, which was hosted by celebrated actress Toyin Abraham-Ajeyemi, were personalities like Binta Ayo-Mogaji, Kazeem Adeoti, Mercy Aigbe-Adeoti, Femi Adebayo, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Biola Adebayo, andFoluke Daramola.
Others included: Bimbo Manuel, Keppy Ekpeyong,Wole Ojo, Segun Arinze, Feyikemi Olayinka, Aishat Lawal, Sodiq Adebayo, Alariya, Hilda Dokubo, Fred Amata, among others.
