The Lagos State Police Command has disbursed N89.2 million to families of police officers who died in service.
Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, presented 157 cheques totaling N89,201,523.07 to next-of-kin at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, on Thursday.
The payment represents entitlements under the Nigeria Police Force welfare and insurance schemes.
CP Fatai said the disbursement reflects the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to the welfare of personnel and support for families of fallen officers.
He condoled with the beneficiaries and advised them to use the funds judiciously for the care and education of dependants, assuring that the sacrifices of the deceased officers will not be forgotten.
