The Director General of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation (NAFIC), Major General JE Osifo, has called on troops in 81 Division Area of Responsibility to take full advantage of the Nigerian Army’s welfare schemes, particularly the Nigerian Army Personnel Insurance Scheme (NAPIS). Speaking on 6 May 2026 at a sensitization lecture held at the Hippo Officers’ Mess, Victoria Island, Lagos, he said the ongoing nationwide programme is aimed at educating officers and soldiers on the full range of welfare packages available to them.
Major General Osifo described NAPIS as a comprehensive insurance cover for service-related risks including injuries, disabilities, medical expenses, and death. He outlined the scope of coverage, the process for filing claims, and benefits payable to next of kin, while stressing the need for personnel to regularly update their next of kin details to avoid loss of entitlements. He also commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, for his continued commitment to personnel welfare.
Representing the GOC 81 Division, Major General AA Babalola, Brigadier General MO Momoh said the initiative reflects the Army’s commitment to protecting its most valuable asset — its personnel. He noted that military service comes with inherent risks and that the seminar would empower troops with the knowledge to access benefits without delay. The one-day workshop featured detailed lectures on welfare policies and ended with an interactive session, presentation of souvenirs, and a group photograph.
