The reopening of secondary and primary schools has been approved by the Nasarawa State Government.
This comes 49 days after the schools were closed due to security concerns.
This is stated in a statement signed for the Commissioner of Education, Mrs. Fati Jimeta, by the Permanent Secretary, PS, Ministry of Education, Mohammed Sani-Bala.
According to the statement, “the school resumption for First-term, 2022/2023 Academic Session for all public and private schools is Sunday, September 18 for boarding Schools and Monday, September 19 for day Schools.”

The statement instructs parents and guardians to return their children and wards to school on time.
It also directed that all outstanding promotion examinations that could not be concluded due to the shutting down of schools in July were to commence from Monday, the 19th of September.
The state Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Fati Jimeta directed all Chief Evaluation Officers CEOs, across the state to monitor and ensure compliance with the directive by the government.

The Commissioner assured the public, especially parents that security has been beefed up in schools to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
It was recalled that the Commissioner had on July 27, 2022, announced the closedown of schools in the state as preventive measures due to security threats in schools at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja.
