Operatives of Ifo and Sango Divisions in Ogun State have arrested two suspected members of an armed robbery and vehicle snatching syndicate and recovered three stolen vehicles, ammunition, and other items. The arrests of Mohammed Adeniyi Usman alias “Mandela,” 48, and Abiodun Ogunojukan alias “Ilasa,” 38, followed intelligence-led operations carried out on 10 and 11 May 2026 across Itele, Ota and Sango-Ota.
Detectives from Ifo Division stormed a hideout in Adeleye Area, Itele, on 10 May where they found a Toyota Corolla, a Toyota Venza allegedly stolen at gunpoint in Abeokuta on 26 April, and a Honda Crosstour taken in a robbery at Ijoko. Usman was arrested at about 10:35 p.m. after officers laid an ambush. Follow-up operations led to Ogunojukan’s arrest under Sango-Ota Bridge the next day, where he reportedly confessed and provided information to help track other members of the gang and recover more vehicles.
Police also recovered two live cartridges, foreign currencies, a So-Safe Corps uniform, an MP3 sound system, and a plasma television set. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran for further investigation and prosecution.
