The Ogun State Police Command has dismantled multiple criminal networks across Abeokuta, Wasimi and Ibafo, arresting six suspects through intelligence-led operations by the Violent Crime Response Unit, SWAT and Ibafo Division. Suspects arrested include Afisu Awesu, Bala Aminu, Moruf Sodiq alias “Okiki”, Mumuni Amodu alias “Stone”, Abayomi John alias “Ibafo”, and Adeboye Ojesina. Recovered exhibits include one pump-action rifle, one locally fabricated pistol, two live cartridges, one expended cartridge, five generators and nine Android phones suspected to be stolen.

VCRU operatives broke a generator theft syndicate on 30 May 2026 after arresting Moruf Sodiq, who led them to receiver Mumuni Amodu and motorcyclist Abayomi John who allegedly provided logistics. SWAT Unit on 12 June 2026 apprehended Adeboye Ojesina, 58, in Wasimi and recovered the firearms and ammunition. He claimed he found the pistol and was handed the pump-action rifle by an unidentified person now being trailed.
