The Ogun State Police Command has flagged off the grassroots operations of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) to strengthen non-kinetic crime prevention and reduce youth vulnerability in the state. The initiative aligns with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu’s directive on preventive policing through advocacy, sensitization, and early intervention.
The launch followed an executive briefing at the Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, where Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, received the POCACOV state leadership led by State Coordinator ASP Oluborode Opeyemi and State Chairman Aare Olayinka Aturamu. The team presented the campaign’s framework, highlighting public enlightenment, behavioral reorientation, and youth mentorship as key tools, while reviewing past grassroots results and a roadmap for statewide sensitization against cultism and related vices.
Commending the team, CP Ojajuni urged officers to intensify advocacy across schools, markets, and communities. “The sky is just the starting point,” he said, charging them to deliver greater impact in keeping the state safe. The Command said the campaign will prioritize prevention over reaction to neutralize cultism and protect young people from criminal influence.
