The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) will convene its 45th Annual International Scientific Conference, “Unity 2026,” from July 27 to August 1, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja. Themed “From Local Pharmacy Practice to Global Impact: Managing Complex Political Systems,” the week-long gathering will bring together policymakers, regulators, healthcare leaders, and pharmaceutical stakeholders to address healthcare access, supply chains, regulation, and medicines security in Nigeria.
Activities begin on July 27 with a health insurance awareness walk themed “Health Insurance for All: Leaving No One Behind,” to be led by NHIA Director-General Dr. Kelechi Ohiri and ACPN National Chairman Pharm. Ezeh Ambrose Igwekamma. Other headline sessions include Dr. Ohiri on “Leveraging NHIA–Community Pharmacists Collaboration as a Catalyst for Universal Health Coverage” and NPHCDA CEO Dr. Muyi Aina on “Healthcare System Strengthening and Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria.” Expected attendees include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Governors Mohammed Umar Bago and Nyesom Wike, and Coordinating Minister Muhammad Ali Pate.
ACPN said the conference will translate professional recommendations into actionable policies and reposition community pharmacists in national health planning. Pharm. Igwekamma described “Unity 2026” as a defining moment to advance the CPACPI career framework and to push for formal recognition of community pharmacies as Primary Healthcare Centres. Central Planning Committee Chairman Pharm. Chidi Dozie said the event will focus on supply chain efficiency, risk management, and regulatory frameworks, while keynote speaker Pharm. Adewale Oyenuga and PSN President Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim emphasized boosting local drug manufacturing and strengthening pharmacists’ role in policy and healthcare governance.
