Two men have been arrested by the Ifo Division of the Ogun State Police Command for alleged conspiracy and illegal possession of a firearm. The suspects, Adeola Mathew, 47, and Rasheed Omoniyi, 48, were detained on 9 May 2026 during a dawn operation at a hideout on Ibogun Road, NITEL Area, Ifo, acting on credible intelligence.
Officers found Mathew at the scene and recovered a locally made pistol hidden on the premises. Investigations indicate the weapon was allegedly passed to him by Omoniyi, who was arrested shortly after. The pistol is now in police custody as an exhibit, while further inquiries continue into the firearm’s origin and any other criminal links.
The case will be handed over to the State CID in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for discreet investigation and prosecution. CP Bode Ojajuni, Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, praised the team’s prompt response and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling crime.
