Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Ogun State Police Command have rescued an abducted victim unharmed, neutralized two suspected kidnappers, and recovered exhibits including a single-barrel gun, one expended cartridge, a mobile phone, and ₦2,200,000 suspected ransom. The breakthrough follows the June 11, 2026 abduction of the victim at Ogbe Village, Ogun State. The Command immediately deployed intelligence and tactical resources to track the gang and secure the victim’s release.
Through sustained surveillance and operational pressure, the victim was released unharmed on June 18, 2026. Operatives then traced the gang to their hideout in the state. On sighting police, the suspects opened fire and a gun duel ensued, during which two kidnappers were neutralized while others fled with gunshot injuries. A search of the scene led to the recovery of the firearm, cartridge, phone, cash, and other items linked to the criminal enterprise.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commended the unit’s professionalism and gallantry, saying the success reinforces the Command’s resolve to pursue kidnappers and violent criminals. He said Ogun State will remain hostile terrain for criminal elements and pledged continued intelligence-led policing and community partnerships.
