The Deputy spokesperson of the House Of Representatives, Chief Philip Agbese, has made clarifications concerning the allegations on the Nigerian Navy, regarding oil theft and crude oil bunkering.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, he said that after investigation of allegations by a private security group contracted by the Federal Government to survey crude oil pipelines, Tantita Security Services Limited had also threatened to release a video clip that captured an alleged shady oil deal involving officers of the Nigerian Navy on the creeks of the Niger Delta region.

Upon series of interactions with the Chief Of the Naval Staff, the Flag Officers commanding both the Eastern and Western commands and other senior naval officers, it was established that the allegations were as a result of moves by disgruntled elements to discredit the efforts of the nation’s naval might in its’ gallant efforts at protection of the nation’s Maritime domain.

He further said that the collective efforts of the officers, personnel and that of the Chief Of the Naval Staff has always poised the Navy to be professional and dedicated in the discharge of their constitutionally mandated duties of safeguarding the nation’s territorial waterways and protecting its’ safety and economic prosperity.

He urged the general public to ignore the misleading allegations and instead commend the efforts of the Nigerian Navy for their credible sacrifices and protection of the nation all under the leadership of the Chief Of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral EI Ogalla, who has shown resilience, commitment and patriotism in the overseeing of the Nigerian Navy.
