Several areas in Lagos and parts of Ogun states are currently experiencing major flooding that has led to the stalling of business and social activities.
Some of the affected areas include Ishawo in Ikorodu, some parts of Lagos Island and Lonex Garden Estate off Channels Television road, in Isheri.
Residents and business owners in these areas are sending out emergency calls to the state governments to take action on the situation by closing the gates of Oyan Dam as no prior notice was given in the state for people to evacuate from areas prone to flooding.
Many residents and business owners are currently marooned or totally cut off from all activities. In messages sent to our reporters, many have described the flooding as life-threatening and dangerous as they cannot get access to food, clean water, medical aid or even leave their homes.
They plead with the state governments to deploy emergency measures to ameliorate the suffering being faced by people to save lives and property.
The flooding has been raging for the past five days and the dam gates are said to be kept open for the next several weeks.
