As Nigeria marked Democracy Day, Geneith Health Competition (GHC) leadership joined citizens to celebrate the nation’s democratic journey while applauding growing public support for malaria elimination. In a joint message, GHC Initiator and CEOAFRICA MD Prince Cletus Iloabanafor and Geneith Pharmaceuticals Chairman Prince Ilobanafor said the Coatal Forte Softgel-powered competition continues to draw overwhelming participation from students, youth leaders, and community advocates nationwide. They described the surge in interest as proof of a national awakening and renewed commitment to transforming public health.
The leaders said Democracy Day means more than political freedom, stressing that real progress requires freedom from preventable diseases that still affect millions. They tied the momentum to the Senate’s recent passage of the National Agency for Malaria Elimination Bill, calling it a landmark step toward strengthening Nigeria’s fight against malaria. GHC backed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for prioritizing healthcare, disease prevention, and better health outcomes as pillars of national development. Mr Emmanuel Umenwa added that malaria elimination is achievable, citing countries that have succeeded and noting Nigeria has the resources, expertise, and human capacity to do the same.
GHC leadership identified students and young people as the driving force, with their creativity and energy making them powerful agents of change. Iloabanafor said the steady influx of youths seeking to join the initiative shows Nigerians are ready for collective action against malaria. He urged students in secondary and tertiary institutions to serve as Anti-Malaria Ambassadors and lead grassroots advocacy in their communities. The organizers called for stronger collaboration among government, private sector, schools, community leaders, and citizens to turn policy into measurable impact.
