Wives of senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force have joined the President of the Police Officers Wives Association, Chief Mrs Mutiat Olufunmilola Disu, in a symbolic tree-planting exercise held as part of the NPF International Youth Day 2026 – National Youth Leadership and Security Initiative. Fifty seedlings donated by the Federal Ministry of Environment were planted under the campaign message “PLANT PEACE. GROW NIGERIA. SECURE THE FUTURE.” Participants included wives of DIGs Zachariah Achinyan, Isyaku Mohammed, Adegoke Fayoade, Umar Nadada, as well as wives of AIGs and CPs. The exercise was a practical demonstration of the Police family’s commitment to environmental sustainability, youth development, peacebuilding and responsible citizenship.
The initiative was designed to send a broader message to Nigerian youths that protecting the environment is part of responsible citizenship. Organisers said planting and nurturing trees is an investment in the health and wellbeing of future generations. The exercise also highlighted the power of collective action, with the Federal Ministry of Environment providing seedlings and the Police family leading the planting, showing that sustainable environmental protection requires families, communities, government and institutions working together.
The Nigeria Police Force and POWA said the exercise carries a simple message: what we plant today determines what future generations will inherit. Every seedling represents hope and a commitment to a greener Nigeria. The Force and POWA are calling on Nigerian youths to embrace environmental stewardship as part of their contribution to national development.
