MAKURDI — Prayer and Support for Nigerian Armed Forces and Other Security Agencies, PSNAFSA, has expressed grief over the killing of four police officers and seven civilians in an attack on Ayilamo community in Logo LGA, Benue State, on Thursday, September 10, 2026. In a statement signed by Convener, Ambassador Mary Abayomi-Fatile, the group commiserated with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Nigeria Police Force, and the bereaved families. PSNAFSA also noted that several persons were injured while others remain missing following the assault.
The organisation applauded security operatives who responded to the attack, saying personnel of the Police Mobile Force, tactical teams and conventional units fought for about seven hours before forcing the attackers to retreat into nearby forests in the early hours of Friday, September 11. PSNAFSA described the slain officers as courageous men who laid down their lives protecting the community. It stressed that the incident underscores the dangers faced daily by the Police, Armed Forces and other security agencies, and called for improved support in intelligence, equipment, logistics and welfare for personnel in vulnerable areas.
PSNAFSA urged government to accelerate the search for missing persons, provide adequate medical care for the injured, and ensure the perpetrators are identified and prosecuted. It also called for stronger early-warning mechanisms and greater community cooperation with security agencies. “We must not become desensitised to the sacrifices of our security personnel,” Ambassador Abayomi-Fatile said, praying for the souls of the departed, comfort for their families, and quick recovery for those wounded.
