The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, will on Wednesday appear before the Senate for screening and confirmation of his appointment by President Mohammadu Buhari.

 

 

 

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, disclosed this during his welcome address at the plenary on Tuesday after eight-week recess.

 

 

Lawan said Ariwoola would appear before the Committee of the Whole of the Senate to commence his screening exercise.

 

 

Lawan while speaking on the 2023 general election promised that the National Assembly will work with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure very successful, transparent and credible elections.

 

 

With respect to the security situation in the country, the Senate President assured that the Senate will continue to engage with the defense and security agencies through its appropriate Committees, to ensure that the engagements are sustained .

 

 

The Senate President restated that President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to present the proposed N19.76 trillion 2023 Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly in the first week of October.
