Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested three suspected members of a car-snatching syndicate and recovered five vehicles linked to theft and robbery operations. The arrests followed an intelligence-driven probe launched after a stolen 2008 Toyota Camry was flagged during a re-registration attempt.
Investigators traced the network’s operations from Lagos to Ibadan and Ilorin, where stolen cars were being hidden and resold. In Ibadan, 58-year-old Segun Olawuwo was arrested with a 2008 Toyota Corolla. Further interrogation led to the arrest of 53-year-old Femi Afolabi and 53-year-old Sunday Ugbomudia in Ilorin, where a 2008 Toyota Camry and a 2006 Toyota Corolla were recovered. A fifth vehicle, a 2012 Toyota Camry, was later found with an unsuspecting buyer in Ibadan.
The suspects admitted involvement in multiple car-snatching and robbery cases in and outside Lagos. Police say the manhunt continues for other gang members still at large.
