Nigerian pharmacy research is set for the global stage after the Community Pharmacists Assessment and Career Progression Institute (CPACPI) had two abstracts accepted for presentation at the 84th FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The event holds in Montreal, Canada, from August 30 to September 2, 2026, bringing together pharmacy leaders to discuss innovation, workforce development, and healthcare delivery.
The milestone follows the adoption of CPACPI’s standardized framework by FIP’s Community Pharmacy Section after its debut at the 2025 Denmark congress. The newly accepted studies—led by Dr. Iyeseun Asieba, Board Chairman of CPACPI, and Pharm. Omokhafe Mary Ashore, National Secretary of ACPN—explore real challenges in Nigerian practice. Asieba’s paper addresses systemic barriers limiting pharmacists’ participation in career advancement schemes, while Ashore’s work profiles early adopters of the CPACPI model and what motivates them. Both align with the congress theme, “One Health, One Pharmacy: Bridging Science, Practice, and Education.”
Pharmacy stakeholders say the selection underscores the international relevance of Nigeria’s evidence-based reforms. ACPN National Chairman Pharm. Ambrose Ezeh noted that the framework strengthens competencies and career pathways needed for sustainable, patient-centered care. Researchers and observers believe the presentations will raise Nigeria’s profile in global pharmacy discourse and encourage broader support for structured professional development across the country’s healthcare system.
