The Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos Sector Command, has updated the public on rescue and recovery efforts following the multiple crashes at Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Friday, 24th July 2026. The body of the trapped victim has now been recovered and deposited at Idera Hospital Mortuary. The two other injured persons have also been rescued and are currently receiving treatment at the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre.
Progress has been made in clearing the scene, with four of the involved vehicles already evacuated. Recovery teams are now working to remove a trapped Toyota Sienna and one articulated truck. This requires offloading the truck’s cargo first before heavy-duty equipment can safely lift the vehicles. FRSC personnel, alongside other emergency responders, remain on site to coordinate the operation, manage traffic, and prevent further incidents.
Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, Lagos Sector Commander, commended motorists for their patience and urged those plying the Kara Bridge corridor inward and outward to exercise caution, obey traffic officials, and use alternative routes where possible until the exercise is completed. The FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives, restoring free flow of traffic, and ensuring road safety for all users.
