The Delta State Police Command has rolled out a statewide operation to dismantle illegal roadblocks and stop unauthorized revenue collection on major highways across the state. The action, which began on Friday, July 24th, 2025, is in direct compliance with the Federal Government’s directive to eliminate extortion and restore order on Nigerian roads.

During the first wave of enforcement, operatives arrested 9 suspects at strategic hotspots, including the Head Bridge area on the Delta-Anambra boundary and along the Benin–Asaba Expressway by Agbor. The suspects are currently being held and will face prosecution once investigations are concluded.

According to the Command, the exercise will be extended to other parts of Delta to ensure motorists and commuters can travel without harassment or illegal levies. The Police also urged the public to support the operation by reporting any incidents of extortion or obstruction on state highways.
