Monday Ifoghere, the kidnapped chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Delta State Chapter, and his wife were released by their kidnappers after seven days in their custody.
On Sunday, the duo was reportedly released around 5 a.m. near the Eku axis in the State’s Ethiope East Local Government Area.
According to reports, the family paid an N12 million ransom with contributions from associates and well-wishers.

Days after they were kidnapped, the kidnappers demanded N200 million, which was later reduced to N100 million, and finally N12 million.
Deacon Ifoghere and his wife were abducted on Sunday, December 12, 2021, while returning from a family event in Ughelli near the Okro market in Egbo, Kokori in the Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The victims have since been hospitalized and are being treated at an undisclosed hospital, according to our source.
While confirming the husband and wife’s release, NAPPS National Vice President (South-South), Dr. Ochuko Akpeme, told journalists that the news had lifted his spirits and that he was grateful to God.
“My joy knows no bounds.” It’s a divine release. It was God who made it possible,” he said, thanking NAPPS members from across Delta State for their support.

As of the time of filing this report, the police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
