Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of FCID Annex, Lagos, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom has called on officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and respect for the rule of law. Speaking at the Formation’s Lecture Parade in Alagbon, Ikoyi, he commended personnel for their dedication and loyalty, and praised sectional heads for providing effective supervision and operational leadership. He said the charge aligns with the Inspector-General of Police’s vision of a professional, accountable and people-oriented Police Force.
The AIG directed supervisors to give priority to officers’ welfare, particularly those who are ill or off duty, stressing that staff wellbeing is key to productivity. He warned against corruption, extortion, bribery and other misconduct, noting that such acts tarnish the Force’s image. Akpanudom cautioned detectives against indiscriminate transfer of case files, unnecessary detention, unlawful arrests and criminalizing civil matters. He reminded investigators that their role is to gather facts, not to judge, and urged that all cases be handled fairly, intelligence-led and evidence-based with due regard for citizens’ fundamental rights. He also urged courtesy with the public and strict adherence to the Force dress code.
Emphasizing teamwork, the AIG directed sectional heads to actively monitor cases through team leaders and ensure proper coordination. He encouraged continuous training, especially in cybercrime and digital policing, to meet emerging investigative demands. Concluding, AIG Akpanudom charged officers to remain disciplined and committed, adding value wherever deployed, and said that professionalism, integrity, accountability and diligence are essential to effective justice delivery and the continued growth of the Nigeria Police Force.
