The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, on Monday hosted the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mrs. Adewuyi Omolabake Frances, and her management team at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta. The courtesy visit was focused on strengthening institutional ties between the Police and NYSC, enhancing the safety of corps members, and expanding joint efforts on community security across the state.
Mrs. Adewuyi lauded the Command for its support, mentorship and proactive security measures for corps members serving in police formations and across LGAs. She pledged continued cooperation in intelligence sharing. In his response, CP Ojajuni assured that protecting lives and property remains a core mandate of the Command. He urged corps members to make the most of their service year, build character and leadership, and avoid crime, stressing that wearing the NYSC uniform does not grant immunity from the law. The CP also sensitized the delegation on the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, describing it as a community-driven tool for value re-orientation, and announced plans for a statewide rollout in schools and communities.
Highlighting the Command’s commitment, CP Ojajuni cited the recent rescue of 18 corps members stranded at night along the Ogbere–Ijebu Ode axis after their vehicle broke down, adding that they were safely evacuated to Ijebu Ode. He charged NYSC management to uphold discipline and proper supervision to produce responsible citizens, and reiterated that the security and welfare of all residents, including corps members, remains the Command’s top priority.
