Troops of 65 Battalion have raided and dismantled a suspected illegal bunkering site in Orile, Lagos State, leading to the arrest of six suspects. The operation was conducted on 16 July 2026 following credible intelligence on the activities of economic saboteurs in the area. The troops moved swiftly and apprehended the individuals believed to be behind the illicit operation.
Items recovered at the scene included four drums, two of which contained suspected illegally refined petroleum products. The troops also impounded a white Ford bus and a tanker suspected to have been used for the illegal activity. The Commanding Officer, 65 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo, later handed the suspects and exhibits over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, for further investigation and prosecution.
Commending the troops, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, described the operation as a reflection of the Division’s commitment to safeguarding critical national assets. He urged personnel to sustain the tempo and called on the public to keep providing timely and credible information to security agencies to help curb economic sabotage within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
