Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu NAM has inaugurated a set of legacy projects at Headquarters 81 Division Garrison, urging commanders to focus on adding value and leaving a lasting legacy in their formations. Represented by Corps Commander Ordnance Maj. Gen. Abdullahi Ibrahim at the 28 May ceremony in Dodan Barracks, Lagos, he commissioned the remodeled Garrison Main Gate, refurbished Commander’s Staff Car and car park, a new Photo Stand, an upgraded Operations Room, and renovated 13-family Corporals and Below Quarters.
The COAS praised Brig. Gen. Ahmed Getso, Commander 81 Division Garrison, for the rapid improvements and encouraged other officers to follow his example of initiative and commitment. He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued backing of the Nigerian Army. GOC 81 Division Maj. Gen. Adebayo Babalola described the achievements as commendable and challenged commanders to make meaningful contributions regardless of constraints.
Brig. Gen. Getso said the projects support ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency, strengthen security, and enhance troop welfare in line with the COAS’s command philosophy. He thanked officers, soldiers, civilian staff, and the GOC for their support in delivering the work. Senior officers and heads of security agencies attended the event, which included the first Quarter Guard at the remodeled gate, souvenir presentations, and group photographs.
