The General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, has urged troops at the Forward Operating Base in Imeko, Ogun State, to maintain high standards of vigilance, discipline and professionalism. Speaking during an operational visit to assess troop welfare and readiness, the GOC said the tour was aimed at having firsthand insight into challenges across the Division’s Area of Responsibility. He commended the troops for their commitment and exemplary conduct, noting commendations from the FOB Commander, Major SY Tula, and feedback from Imeko community stakeholders.
General Babalola reminded the soldiers to align with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy built on five pillars: Professional Excellence, Sound Administration, Operational Effectiveness, Strategic Collaboration and Exemplary Leadership. He warned against harassment, extortion and all forms of misconduct, adding that any act capable of denting the image of the Nigerian Army would not be condoned. As part of the visit, he paid a courtesy call on the Onimeko of Imeko, Oba Benjamin Alabi Oyeditan-Olanite, where he sought the traditional institution’s support for ongoing operations and input on troops’ relationship with the host community.
The GOC also visited Headquarters 35 Artillery Brigade, Abeokuta, where he was received by the new Brigade Commander, Brigadier General FO Onu. He inspected facilities including the 35 Artillery Brigade War Memorial and other operational infrastructure. The visit featured interactions with troops, facility inspections, presentation of souvenirs, signing of the Visitors’ Book and group photographs. He was accompanied by commanders and staff officers from 81 Division, 35 Artillery Brigade and 45 Engineer Brigade.
