The General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, has commended troops of Operation ATILEYIN ALAFIA II for their professionalism and discipline during deployment to the Republic of Benin.
Receiving the returning troops on Wednesday, 5 August 2026 at the 243 Reconnaissance Battalion Parade Ground, Ibereko Barracks, Badagry, Lagos, the GOC said they had lived up to his charge to be worthy ambassadors of Nigeria and the Nigerian Army. He noted that the soldiers accomplished their mission while upholding the values of discipline, courage, loyalty and professionalism.
Maj Gen Babalola disclosed that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, was also impressed with the troops’ performance and conduct throughout the operation. He added that arrangements are underway for the award of operational medals to recognize their meritorious service. The GOC urged the troops to maintain the high standard and avoid any act that could dent the reputation they have earned.
