Troops of 65 Battalion have intercepted a truck transporting a large quantity of illicit drugs along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road. The operation, carried out on July 9, 2026, was based on actionable intelligence from a credible source. The driver was arrested during the stop, and initial investigation revealed the consignment was headed for the Berger area of Lagos State. The suspect, however, could not provide satisfactory information about who owned the drugs or who they were meant for.
In accordance with standard procedure, both the suspect and the seized drugs were handed over to the NDLEA Lagos State Command for further investigation and prosecution. The handover was done by the Commanding Officer of 65 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo.
The General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Major General Adebayo Babalola, commended the troops for their alertness and professionalism. He charged them to maintain the momentum and step up operations to block drug traffickers and other criminal elements within the 81 Division Area of Responsibility.
