LAGOS — Normalcy has returned to Ikola after a violent clash that left three people dead and two others injured, the Lagos State Police Command said. According to preliminary findings, the incident started when suspected area boys allegedly stopped a tricycle rider and demanded ₦200. After the rider refused and his tricycle was seized, he returned with others and a confrontation broke out, during which some buildings were also set ablaze.
CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, alongside Brig. Gen. Afolabi Owolabi, Commander 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army, visited the scene to coordinate the response. The dead and injured were taken to the Military Hospital, Yaba. Teams from RRS, Taskforce, Tactical Squad, PMF, Eko Strike Force and VCRU have been deployed and are currently maintaining law and order in the area.
The Command said it has launched an investigation and will ensure anyone found culpable faces prosecution. CP Fatai urged residents to stay calm, shun unverified reports, and share credible information to aid the probe. He added that security has been reinforced to prevent further escalation.
