DELTA — CP Samuel Etaifo, has officially assumed duty as the 25th Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command. In his maiden address, he thanked IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu for the appointment and paid tribute to his predecessor, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, for laying a solid foundation. He said protecting lives and property remains the Command’s top priority, especially given Delta’s strategic role as an economic hub in the Niger Delta.
The new CP outlined a mission built on intelligence-driven, community-oriented and professional policing. His agenda focuses on five pillars: *Discipline* with zero tolerance for corruption and rights abuses; *Community Policing* through partnerships with traditional rulers, youths, women and faith leaders; *Inter-Agency Synergy* for joint operations and intelligence sharing; *Proactive Crime Fighting* targeting kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, cybercrime and oil-related crimes; and *Public Confidence* through fairness, visibility and prompt response to complaints. He also pledged to shift from reactive to technology-enabled policing, with performance metrics for all tactical teams.
CP Erale urged residents to support the police with timely and credible information, saying “if you see something, say something.” He assured the media of a cordial working relationship and told officers that expectations are clear: align with the Command’s mission. “We will build forward, not backwards, and confront emerging threats with renewed energy and clarity,” he stated.
