Udengs Eradiri, Special Adviser on Youths to the Interim Administrator, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has praised President Muhammadu Buhari and the NDDC for completing the University of Uyo’s abandoned 1050-bed hostel project (UNIUYO).
Buhari, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Interim Administrator, NDDC, Effiong Akwa, said by completing the project, they had demonstrated their desire to alleviate the sufferings of students in the region, according to Eradiri, a former President of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Worldwide.

In a statement released on Thursday to commemorate the project’s inauguration, the former Commissioner of Bayelsa State said the NDDC was the only federal government agency to complete three world-class projects in a single year.
“I am very excited about this project, which is a world-class facility that will accommodate students in a pleasant environment,” he said.
“I must say that this is one of the over 1900 abandoned projects in the Niger Delta that my boss has taken on to finish under the ministerial supervision of Senator Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.”
“The timely delivery of this project is exactly what we need in the Niger Delta if we truly want our region to develop, and I have to commend my boss for ensuring that laudable projects like this get the green light.”
“I’d also like to point out that the NDDC is the only government agency that has delivered three world-class projects for the President to commission in a single year.”
“Indeed, the NDDC is now living its dream of making a difference, having completed the 13-story headquarters building, which had been abandoned for 21 years; the Special Protection Unit 64 flats accommodation for the Nigeria Police Force in Rivers State, which had also been abandoned for 11 years; and now this 1050 bed space hostel.”
