Dominican University, Ibadan, has celebrated its Pro-Chancellor, Mr. Peter Obi, on his 65th birthday, describing him as a transformational leader whose commitment to education and youth empowerment continues to shape Nigeria’s future. In a message on Sunday, Vice Chancellor Prof. Jacinta A. Opara hailed Obi as an outstanding statesman whose passion for learning inspires hope across the country. The university said his consistent investments in human capital and advocacy for quality education affirm his belief that learning is the most powerful tool for building an inclusive and prosperous nation.
The institution noted that Obi has remained a steadfast voice for educational excellence in both public service and private life, making it central to his vision for a new Nigeria. As Pro-Chancellor, his guidance has driven the growth of Dominican University since its founding a decade ago on the 800-year educational tradition of the Order of Preachers. “We remain profoundly grateful for your visionary leadership, generous support, and invaluable contributions to our mission of producing morally upright and globally competitive graduates,” the university stated.
In joining well-wishers across Nigeria and beyond, Dominican University prayed for God’s continued grace, sound health, wisdom and strength for Obi as he champions good governance, human dignity and national development. Prof. Opara reaffirmed the university’s pride in associating with a leader whose lifelong dedication to education, integrity and service continues to leave a lasting legacy and inspire the next generation.
