The Ogun State Police Command has received over 150 students of the National Association of Crime Management Students, NACRIMS, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro Chapter, for an educational excursion at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta. The visit, held under CP Bode Ojajuni, reflects the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which prioritizes community partnership, youth engagement, and non-kinetic approaches to crime reduction. The programme was designed to expose future crime management professionals to the practical aspects of intelligence-led policing and criminal justice administration.
The students were taken through the organizational structure of the Nigeria Police Force, community policing strategy, and intelligence-driven crime prevention. In a sensitization session, State POCACOV Coordinator ASP Oluborode Opeyemi educated them on the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and violent extremism, urging them to embrace integrity, discipline and civic responsibility. The students pledged to shun cultism and other vices and to serve as peace ambassadors on their campuses. The Command’s Legal Officer, ASP Saheed Abdulganiyu, Esq., also delivered a lecture on investigative procedures, constitutional safeguards, evidence handling and prosecution to deepen their understanding of due process.
Officers speaking on behalf of the Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to partnering with academic institutions to build public trust and prevent crime early. The Head of Department, Mrs. Adeoye K.T., and NACRIMS President, Comr. Makinde Ridwan Ayomide, appreciated the IGP, CP Ojajuni and the Command for the impactful engagement, saying it broadened the students’ knowledge of modern policing. The Ogun State Police Command reiterated its resolve to sustain youth-focused initiatives and institutional collaborations in line with the IGP’s strategic agenda to enhance safety across the state.
