ABUJA — The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has unveiled _Esteemed Youths_, a value-focused book authored by ACP Oluseyi Olabisi Okuwobi, as part of the Nigeria Police Force International Youth Day 2026 – National Youth Leadership and Security Initiative. The event, attended by senior police officers, POWA President Chief Mrs. Mutiat Olufunmilola Disu, government representatives, youth leaders and students, marked the NPF’s push to engage young Nigerians early on choices, values and security.
_Esteemed Youths_ is presented as a preventive tool that addresses cybercrime, cultism, drug abuse, violence, examination malpractice and other antisocial behaviour. Rather than only warning against crime, the book seeks to educate and guide young people toward education, innovation, entrepreneurship and responsible citizenship. Its core message aligns with the NPF campaign: _“My Future is Greater Than Political and Digital Thuggery,”_ urging youths not to become instruments of political violence or cybercrime when they can be nation-builders.
The book, marked “NOT FOR SALE,” will be distributed through the Office of the IGP as a public-interest resource for schools, youth groups and communities. IGP Disu said the initiative reflects a shift toward preventive policing, stressing that crime prevention starts by equipping young people with knowledge before negative influences take hold. The launch formed part of wider IYD activities including youth leadership dialogues, awards, and ambassador appointments aimed at strengthening police-youth relations.
