The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I. Abbas, has applauded operatives of the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service for their gallantry in rescuing abducted students and teachers in Oyo State. In a statement released through official Navy channels, he described the mission as a clear reflection of the high standards of the SBS and its vital role in supporting internal security operations across the country.
Vice Admiral Abbas commended the team’s courage, professionalism and operational competence during the joint operation with the Inter-Agency Task Force, noting that their dedication was key to securing the safe release of the victims. He added that the successful operation aligns with his vision of building a highly motivated, credible and professional naval force capable of securing Nigeria’s maritime domain while contributing effectively to joint operations for national stability and sovereignty.
The CNS expressed personal appreciation to the operatives, saying their actions have brought honour to the Service and serve as inspiration to their colleagues. He urged them to remain steadfast in excellence as the Navy continues its mandate to preserve peace and defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
