The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and stronger community collaboration during a familiarization visit to the Ota Area Command in Sango-Ota. Received by Area Commander, ACP Shola Oladele, with a guard of honour, the CP was briefed on operational strides in one of the state’s busiest jurisdictions bordering Lagos. ACP Oladele highlighted a decline in violent crime through visibility patrols, raids on criminal hideouts, and partnerships with traditional rulers, local governments, and the NDLEA, citing the clearance of shanties at Akute Bridge, arrest of eight suspected kidnappers at Kara/Isheri-Olofin, and sustained action against cultism. She appealed for more patrol vehicles, motorcycles, communication equipment, manpower, and action on the abandoned Gateway Hotel identified as a criminal hideout.
CP Ojajuni commended officers, stakeholders, and traditional institutions for turning Ota from a security flashpoint into a more stable area. He urged personnel to remain professional and people-centred, and pledged continued support for the Area Command. Ado-Odo/Ota LG Chairman, Hon. Lawal Wasiu, also restated the council’s backing for security operations. As part of the tour, the Commissioner visited Shongai Technologies, Papilon Company, and Geepee Industries, applauding their investments in jobs and community development, and assured them of police protection for businesses and expatriates.
The visit ended at the palace of the Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof.) Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege III, where CP Ojajuni credited Operation Kosaye and collaboration with Ogun and Lagos governments for disrupting criminal networks. The monarch praised the CP’s leadership and the professionalism of ACP Oladele and her team. The Command said the tour underscores its focus on partnership-driven policing with communities, traditional rulers, local governments, and the private sector to sustain security gains.
