The Ogun State Police Command has smashed a suspected cattle theft syndicate and thwarted an abduction attempt in two separate operations. Sagamu Division operatives arrested Abiodun Kamilu, 35, and Adesanya Segun, 37, after a distress call on July 25, 2026 reported that thieves had raided a cow yard in Maskoli, Sagamu and made away with seven cows. Police tracked the suspects along the Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode Expressway, recovered six of the stolen cows and seized a blue Nissan Cabster bus believed to be used for the operation. Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members and recover the last cow.
Hours later, the Command’s Safer Highway Patrol Team foiled a suspected kidnapping at Onigaari on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. On July 26 at about 7:10 p.m., officers on routine patrol heard gunshots, responded immediately, and forced the attackers to flee into the bush. The victim was rescued unhurt and taken with his vehicle to the Ogunmakin Police Post for safety and documentation. Investigations to apprehend the fleeing suspects are underway.
CP Bode Ojajuni praised the officers for their courage and professionalism, saying the arrests show the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led and rapid-response policing.
